I was very pleased to be invited by UNESCO to participate in the Asia Pacific Conference on Education and Training (ACET) that took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 3 to 5. It was organized jointly by UNESCO and the Ministry of Education, Malaysia, with participation from 48 countries. The timing of the Conference couldn’t have been better, right after the World Education Forum in May and before the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Summit in September.

The Supreme Court of Washington has ordered the Washington State Legislature to pay a daily fine of $100 000 for non-compliance with a court order to adopt a plan to meet its constitutional obligation to “make ample provision for the education of all children residing within its borders” which confers upon the children of Washington the “right to be amply provided with an education”.

As of 24 June 2015, 102 organisations - including the Right to Education Project - endorsed the Lima Declaration on Tax Justice and Human Rights. The Lima Declaration marks the end of the Global Week of Action for #TaxJustice (16-22 June) led by the Global Alliance for Tax Justice to demand that multinationals pay their fair share in tax and contribute to the fulfilment of human rights.
